The Pelican is the latest painting in a series of works I have developed exploring themes of still life, taxidermy, opulent displays and aesthetics for aesthetics sake. The Pelican is a nod to Dutch still life paintings, one of my favourite areas of art history and was heavily inspired by classical rococo works.
